Katie B’s Tennis in the Park delivers tennis and padel coaching across the Tonbridge and Medway area. Led by experienced coaches Katie and Ian, sessions are fun, social, and confidence-building, helping players of all abilities develop their skills and enjoy this fast-growing sport.

Padel tennis is a modern and enjoyable variation of traditional tennis that is both easy to learn and highly sociable. This game is played on an enclosed court that is about one-third the size of a standard tennis court, allowing players of all ages and skill levels to play together in groups.
Nettla’s rating system (1.0–7.0) helps match players of similar ability
Newcomer
You’ve tried padel once or twice, or never played before, and you have little to no experience in other racket sports
Beginner
You understand the basics and can rally slowly, though accuracy and handling faster shots might still be a challenge. You’re becoming more aware of playing with a partner, moving into position, and starting to explore how to use the walls. Your main focus is improving consistency and gaining confidence.
(Or) you have medium to high level of other racket sports background, even if you have not tried padel yet.
Improver
Has moved beyond the beginner stage and can rally with better control and accuracy. This player is getting used to match situations, gaining rhythm and an early game sense. They are experimenting more confidently with walls and positioning, but are not yet fully consistent or tactical in their play.
Intermediate
You can rally at a steady pace and are increasingly comfortable using the walls. Your shot placement is improving, and you’re starting to apply basic tactics, like forcing errors and opening up space. You’re also getting familiar with playing on both sides of the court. You feel confident in friendly matches and are working on developing variety and sharper decision-making.
Intermediate +
You play with purpose and accuracy, using smart shot choices and tactical awareness. You’re able to adjust your positioning, anticipate your opponents’ play, and apply pressure with well-timed lobs, drop shots, and volleys. You have the ability to playing on both sides of the court and can hold your own in competitive games while continuing to refine your control and movement.
Advanced
You have strong technical ability, controlling spin, pace, and placement with confidence. You have a solid physical ability and move efficiently on court, make strategic decisions under pressure, and work closely with your partner to control points. You use the walls instinctively and compete in regional tournaments hosted by official federations.
Expert
You’re among the top players in your country. Your technique is precise, your mental focus is consistent, your physical ability is strong, and you read the game at a high level. You control rallies, dictate the tempo, and regularly compete in high-level or elite tournaments with strong results.
